QDEL has a CLIA waiver for their test, which means nurses and other non-MD types can administer the test. CMTR does not have a CLIA waiver yet, but has FDA permission to claim a 90 percent accuracy rate on their tests.

QDEL is in bed with Procter & Gamble and MedPartners; CMTR is distributing thier tests through Astra Merk.

QDEL is selling their tests now. CMTR is just now coming on line.

You're right in speculating that both companies have strong positions in the HP test market, at least as far as US sales are concerned.
