Andrew Introduces The DataMaster Antenna Range For 2-Way MMDS Systems
ORLAND PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 19, 1999--Andrew Corporation (NASDAQ:ANDW) introduced the DataMaster(TM) MMDS sector antenna range for 2-way MMDS (Multi-channel, Multi-point Distribution Services) systems. These new antennas are an alternative to wireline access for providing data (including Internet) and voice services to multiple dwelling units and small businesses.
The DataMaster family of antennas specifically addresses the needs of the 2-way MMDS market, a market created only recently when MMDS 2-way rulemaking was passed by the FCC. Traditional MMDS antennas are optimized for video broadcast whereas DataMaster antennas are optimized for sectorized data transmission and efficient use of the MMDS spectrum for data applications.
Three DataMaster antenna versions are available: a 90(Degree) sector transmit antenna for 2-way systems with 18 dBi gain in the 2500-2700 MHz frequency band and receive antennas for 2-way systems with either 18 dBi (90(Degree) sector size) or 22 dBi (30(Degree) sector size) gain in the 2150-2360 MHz frequency band. The antennas are available in horizontal or vertical polarization, weigh just 20 lbs., can survive winds of up to 150 mph, and will continue to operate in temperatures between -40 degrees Centigrade and +70 degrees Centigrade.
