By this token it seems to me that any market maker with deep
pockets (like FBCO) can take virtually any equity, especially
one that is not widely known, and drive the price down slowly
over time, as in the case of NITE. One can interpret this either
as inherent weakness in the equity, or as acquired weakness, due
to market maker action.

My guess is we'll never know the truth, but only watch the tape
and try to interpret the action. Right now, I see no reason for
them to stop this activity -- after all, it seems to be working
in their favor. If there is some catalyst (like earnings, or news)
that triggers a directional change, they'll make money by selling
higher; if not, they'll either cover, or postpone realization
of profits until they decide to make it turn. Who really knows?
I certainly don't. :)
