Novell Conference Call with the Analysts

Novell execs already have had their conference call with the analysts. The following is a summary of what they said:

1. Excluding WP, Q1 revenues 380M - Q2 revenues 393M (excluding write-off)
2. Net Margins for coming quarters: 15% to 20%, with the higher end in Q4
3. Expenses increase rate will be less than revenue growth rate
4. With sequential quarterly growth of 3 to 5 %, expected earnings are: Q3 $.18 to $.21 & Q4 $.21 to $.25
5. 1997 earnings will be $1.0 or slightly higher
6. The company is very positive about the future because of the following:

-Netware 4.1 is gaining momentum with large organization due to NDS
-NDS is being developed for other platforms
-Several solutions for small businesses in alliance with IBM, HP, ...etc
-Internet and intranet intiatives

The accounting for Q2 is very complex and it may require a Ph.D. in accounting to understand it. I
could not tell from the analysts questions whether they were positive or negative.

Regards
