Interesting article in MIT Tech Review this month about GPS. Even though the government paid for and operates the GPS satellite system, receiver prices still aren't low enough to develop a large market and make GPS a successful and profitable product. No wonder Iridium, which paid for the satellite network itself, is having such problems.
