<<Online Sales Remains A Challenge By Connie Guglielmo July 19, 1999 2:44 PM ET ZD Interactive Week Online
Shop.org, a 2-year-old association of online retailers, says consumers will spend more than $36 billion by year's end - compared with the $14.9 billion they spent online in 1998.
In a report released Monday based on shopping statistics from 328 online retailers, Shop.org and its research partner, The Boston Consulting Group, found that online orders were up 200 percent over 1998, while the number of online shoppers - lookers not buyers - was up 300 percent. Though the number of people looking on the Web has gone up, the look-to-buy comparison ratio shows that convincing people to buy online remains a "major challenge for Internet retailers," said David Pecaut, senior vice president of The Boston Consulting Group.>>
Hmmm.....According to H&Q NETP is the ideal firm positioned to help improve e-tailers "look to buy" ratio. Online retailers need the right infrastructure, software and systems in place to really personalize a customer's experience on their website. Its also important to understand a customer's preferences (in real time) and make relevant content or product recommendations. I wonder which company does this well? IMO, NETP is SO UNDERVALUED that it's not even funny <G>..!!
Best Regards,
