Probably the best real-world application for IP Multicasting they've found to date! This requires Router software upgrades. It allows them to distribute broadcast information much more efficiently across the NASDAQ backbone... Multicast transmissions in a data network are sent once, received by many (like a broadcast TV signal) -- instead of the more conventional 'Unicast' (point to point) transmissions, which must be repeated for every user, congesting he network and increasing transmission delays (latencies), often resulting in dropped traffic and server errors (as in, "I can't get my quotes). -Steve
