Alientech, thanks for this response. (1) These are not the only trades I go for, the ones you mention can be profitable, and I do them, especially earnings and news driven plays. (2) But your response comes pretty close to the line, if not going over the line, of saying since it has not worked for me or does not work the way I like it does not work. I have made as much or MORE trading these kinds of situations in the last five years than the ones you mentioned. It really is a question of knowing how to play them. SVE is trading just above its book value now and is offering itself up for sale, with Wasserstein Perrella helping out. In the 12 1/4-12 1/2 range today the risk/reward was excellent and it saw a nice rally into the close. One last point. This market is very tough--today was exhibit A. And yet even in this environment oversold dumper plays can be a wonderful way to make money. It is A way--not a risk free way, nor an easy way, but a potentially good way, to score big.
