Thanks Dean. I just got my letter from Schwab today and was going to call them tomorrow.

When you read the letter it sounds like you get $3.80 either way. I was wondering what the difference was and I am glad you pointed it out. The difference then is the time you get the cash and wether you pay a fee or not (3weeks with fee or 6 weeks no fee).

Normally there would be a $30 commmission if you sold anyways. So $39 fee, though a rip off, I can live with I guess. A few years ago I tried one of the other discount houses and was very dissappointed by the service. I came back to Schwab. It has been a few years and I am sure a lot has changed since then.

Let me know how happy you are with e-trade or any other service as it is always good to shop around. Schwab has a local office about 40 minutes from my house. Although I go there maybe once a year it is comforting to know they are close by.

I'll have to think about the time frame for getting the cash from the tender offer. I want to make sure I have cash to buy on the next major drop of 15-20% in the markets.

Next year is a Presidential Election year and I guess for some time that has always been an up year in the markets. If the markets are to do well again next year, you would think they would need to correct substantially before next year. That leaves this Fall.

I guess with an August 3rd deadline, you'd either pay and get your money by the end of August or wait it out and get it late mid September. September seems to always lead into a drop till late in the year. I want to take advantage of that this time for a change.
Either way I think we get the cash in a good time before the seasonal drop.
