Eric, (and all) >> I am not worried about earnings .... <<
Neither am I <smile> ...... YET <G>....
Eric: >> PS It's been fun talking about "what needs to be done" BUT it is game time now and we will see the "results" tomorrow!! <<Yes and No Eric. I don't think Q2 results as reported today (which IMO I personally didn't take as a negative, but as a positive) because I saw it as Frankenberg saying -- "Look, this is the end of Noorda's mess -- and now we are going to start clean and kick some ass.
So:
1.Q2 is over. (thank God!). Now NOVL has NO MORE excuses. You might think me crazy, but I am glad in a way it turned out this way (apparantly, the TRUTH), and reported it the way it REALLY is. I think dropping 5/8 on this kind of news ain't too shabby. I also think that the street recognizes this also. Yes, now NOVL cannot say, well, "we have to divest such and such, and we then have to restructure this and that". Now they're exposed. 2.Q2 if it were going to be a +'ive surprise, would be just a "big bonus", at least to me. My mantra hasn't changed. I want to see, what this company looks like in an 8 month window, and I stick by that.
3.As you say in your post >> Consider this our mid-term exam...Final exam will come in 3rd quarter. << Well, I agree, the earnings should now go to +'ive, but I want to see the rest of the year (1996). This weeks PC Week and Computer Reseller News has some pretty serious (good) stuff on Novell and Green River etc..
Let's see how it goes from here and forward.
Joe..<who is dead serious about every word written here, and ain't going anywhere.... yet>
PS: Did you see where Bear Stearns lowered the 97 EPS for MSFT from $4.15 to $4.00 --- Ya' just gotta love that!!!! (grin)....
More of this to follow for his billness... I guarantee it! |
