andrew, increased revs for computers was $8 billion. iow, they sold $8 billion more in 1998 than in 1997. the gdp contribution of that $8 billion was about $150 billion- or about all the gdp growth in 1998 over 1997. take away the smoke and gdp didn't grow one iota from 1997 to 1998. there are lies, damned lies and then there are statistics ;-)
