Jim, The reason I posted NYRR's non union status was the result of a conversation I had with a LIRR (union) engineer. He told me that when a passing a NYRR locomotive went by, the NYRR guy waved hello. The LIRR guy responded with a one fingered wave because of NYRR's non union status. Perhaps the rail operators are non union, but the barge / tug guys are union. In any event I'm gonna call tomorrow, ask, and post the reply from NYRR. I regret any confusion I may have caused. - Brian
