I'm in a far better position to understand the consensus of opinion on Y2K in high tech, particularly among software and electrical engineers--it's my job to interact with substantial numbers of them-- than I would imagine you are. (But I don't know that for sure--don't know your current employment.) And their consensus is in line with what Ratcliffe said.

If you had read the article carefully, you would know that much of it dealt with the numerous Y2K milestones that have passed without significant incident. That is data. (And it is data--in its most basic form that a widely read columnist believes these things. Just as it is data that you don't accept them--though I would imagine you're a bit less read.) You can discount the information on all the crucial dates that have passed because of your own point of view, but you have not been able to explain it away.

BTW, get up off the floor. You look silly down there.
