To clarify, there are TWO major Y2K effects:

1) Many applications are being "re-done" on the Windows NT platforms in time for Y2K -- but this is only a one-time boost!

2) Spending patterns may change...more spending now, less towards the end of year.

...this means earnings may have a DOUBLE artificial boost right now. HENCE, the prediction for very low growth through next year. Note the item (1) above could be quite large.
