Corporate profits, which we forecast to expand by 15% for the remainder of 1999, should drive the market
higher. This expansion should yield extraordinary stability as characterized by the day-to-day percentage
change in the indexes, with interest rates fluctuating only narrowly. In fact, we expect the yield on the 30-year
Treasury bond to trade down to 5.75%. While this outlook may appear boring to some, particularly the trader
who is searching for extremes, the fundamental investor with a longer horizon should be ecstatic.
