SBAS - StarBase Revenue Range of $3.4 - $3.6M Exceeds Expectations; First Quarter Revenues Grow at Least 195% Over Last Year and 57% Sequentially

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- StarBase Corporation (Nasdaq: SBAS - news), a leading provider of Internet and intranet based technical collaboration and software configuration management tools, today announced preliminary operating results for the first fiscal quarter ending June 30, 1999. StarBase management anticipates that revenue for the first fiscal quarter will be between $3.4 and $3.6 million. This represents at least 195% percent growth over the same period last year and at least 57% percent growth over the last quarter of fiscal year 1999. Furthermore, operating expenses for the first quarter are estimated to be between $3.7 and $3.8 million. The company expects to formally announce the results of operations for the first quarter by the second week of August.

William R. Stow III, chairman and chief executive officer of StarBase, stated, ''This has been a very exciting quarter for the company. Building on the momentum from the release of StarTeam 4.0 during last quarter, revenues continued to increase while our operating losses declined. We expect this trend to continue, bringing the company into profitability this fiscal year. With the more recent launch of StarTeam 4.1 as a primary enabler of e-business development, we expect to further penetrate the corporate wide enterprise customer. We also anticipate establishing additional strong partnership relationships similar to the one established with Macromedia this last quarter.''

We will conduct a conference call today at 4:15 EDT on vcall.com and look forward to discussing these positive results in further detail.
