Umm, no. You probably haven't gotten the news yet over there on the Wintel threads but, as it turns out, this 'network' thing is ending up as a MUCH bigger deal than the old 'end user licensed / self administrating KB Toy desktop PC' schtick.

I guess sys admin should be a painful experience then , just like it is under UNIX currently ... in other words let's perpetuate the broken metaphor of config file hacking and command line interfaces.

Networks require qualified masochists to run them. The rest of the world beyond the small percentage which is the PC 'sell through', for whatever reason, would prefer their connected network device to be as easy to own and operate as their automobile (yet alone their telephone).

p.s. The PC accounts for upwards of 80% of the worlds computers; not a small percentage. Things are supposed to get simpler not more complex ... at least in a world where things advance rather than stagnate; that's the problem with UNIX. Isn't Jini supposed to let you plug and play devices into the network ?
