AppNet Inks E-Business Deal With Value America
BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 1999--
Supply Chain Solution to Improve Supplier Relationships, Enhance Cost Savings
AppNet, (Nasdaq: APNT), a single-source e-business solutions firm, today announced that it signed a contract with Value America, the Internet's leading superstore, for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) analysis and development services to integrate replenishment business processes with suppliers - making time consuming, manual procedures a thing of the past.
AppNet's solution will quickly enable Value America to electronically upload suppliers' product catalogs and price information, provide product sales reporting, process returned goods, allow inventory inquiries, track shipments, provide proof of order delivery and process freight invoices. These systems will improve customer service and save millions of dollars over the time consuming manual processes currently in place.
"We selected AppNet because of their broad expertise to develop the inventory pipeline so essential to automating our business," says Bryan Larkin, Value America's director of Electronic Commerce Operations. "Value America's e-business strategy is to leverage cutting-edge solutions to build a seamless, inventory-less e-business chain from our customers through to our suppliers. AppNet's e-business expertise was critical to developing effective solutions quickly."
"AppNet provides EDI and other e-business services to improve supply chain operations -- an important piece of the total e-business model," said Toby Tobaccowala, senior vice president of AppNet. "We're thrilled to partner with Value America to build the essential back-office systems that will fundamentally simplify the way they, their partners and their customers conduct business over the Internet."
