Beach, Thanks for the insight; valid possible reasons... but I have trouble convincing myself that any of those items would really cause the majority of Corp's to wait into next year (as an aggregate behaviour)... seems like they would (for the most part) be working to isolate the problems and replace systems/software ASAP, so they don't get hit with the problems when the clock turns. Waiting till next year to upgrade equipment & software isn't going to help... anyway I'm sure they're some logic/truth on both sides of it, but I've found that when things get this fuzzy usually it's a mistake to "assume" one way or the other, without further info... anyway I guess it's OT.
