Ian, I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I think you are solving a technical problem that isn't on the critical path. IMHO you are missing the BIG picture.

There are only a small number of users who have a bottleneck between the CPU and main memory. If there were no such thing as L1 or L2 Cache, I might change my mind, but the fact is these two Caches feed the CPU pretty well. The biggest problem between the CPU and main memory (Cache miss), in a typical application profile, is LATENCY, not BANDWIDTH.

It seems that I cannot convince anyone here that Rambus albeit a better technical solution then SDRAM, does not provide significant added value for the cost. Good luck to all, you have bought a company that is suppose to get a few percent on every memory device sold over the next 2-3 years and is currently valued as if that is guaranteed. I am neither long nor short (today) so good luck to you.
