Results; Announces Initiatives for Improved Performance

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON - news) today reported second-quarter results for the period ending June 30, 1999.

NEON achieved second-quarter revenues of $26.1 million, compared to revenues of $11.5 million for the same period last year. The company reported a per-share loss of 19 cents, compared to earnings of 5 cents in the second quarter of 1998, excluding the charges noted below.

The company said it will have a loss of 12 cents to 22 cents a share stemming from infrastructure costs and lower-than- expected sales. It was expected to earn 12 cents, the average estimate of nine analysts polled by First Call. The company said revenue will rise to $25 million to $30 million from $11.5 million a year earlier. The total will be lower than the $29.6 million in first-quarter sales, New Era said.
