Sounds like it was a dead-end technology, then. Ya gotta go with the one that's designed for the future. (Wait, where have I heard this before? <G>).

I do remember that VESA was originally designed for graphics cards, but it must have been useful for products other than those. During that period I was consulting for a division of a company that was putting together a SCSI card and we debated long and hard about whether to go VESA or PCI. We decided to go PCI because of Intel's endorsement. The company, however, blew up the division before we introduced the product. I still have one of the first pre-production circuit boards around somewhere <G>.
