But we live in Texas and Feelings had this discussion a year or two ago. I have one graduate and one junior in public school, both of whom have taken biology. The teacher (Honors Bio, and one of our better teachers) taught evolution as her preferred theory- emphasize theory- but mentioned that creationism was also a theory, although one she was not as "familiar with" and she would rather they talked to their parents about it. I commend her for getting around the issue gracefully in a strong Bible Belt state, but my boys both say that the teaching was pretty carefully neutral on ALL theories, and that it was not taught in any depth and I would guess this is because the teachers are rather intimidated by the far right.
