I agree with Kevin. Simply because MS is largest, they are stigmatized. I run my own business, I know how much work and dedication goes into building a profitable, viable enterprise. The market will dictate the ultimate success of my venture. The market will respond favorably or otherwise. It is up to management to steer it in the right direction.
Bill Gates did not invent DOS. He purchased it and managed it to success. He may have failed. But he had the vision for an operating system, a vision that others failed to see or simply failed to capitalize.
Now, part of that success may be luck, i.e., right place at the right time. In order to be at the right place at the right time requires us to know where it is we want to be in the first place. It doesn't matter if the goal is to win the Masters, the Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, or whatever. In order to be at the right place at the right time requires knocking on quite a few doors, in other words--hard work.
It is actually more difficult to hold on to the top positiion than it is to get there. After all, once on top your enemies want to see you fall. So you have to be ever vigilant, which is what Gates & Co. are doing.
If you are a believer in the free marketplace then let the games play on. Otherwise, hire the DOJ and it's hungry, greedy, lawyers. The Feds will call "antitrust", this way the public is led to believe that MS is "untrustworthy". Give me a break---sore losers is all it is. |
