The coverage of St. John's Wort is a joke. They forgot to mention that the longest human study only lasted 6 weeks, and that the Medical Letter found a six-fold difference in the potency of St. John's Wort, depending on who the manufacturer was. I often tell my patients that St. John's Wort is like taking a handful of some unstudied variation of amitriptylline to treat depression. And how many pills should they take? No telling. Take any dose you want--the potency varies all over the map. Melatonin is a little better, since they acknowledge that nobody really has any clinical use for it. But then they throw in a bunch of false hopes about cancer cures. At least they provide a link to a better site. Tom D
