Steve...I agree but...

I'm confused as to your reference to the 10, 15 and 20X float numbers in regards to OSFT. Surely you must know OSFT has a current float of 4.4 million shares.

While I agree we are witnessing some excessive manipulation I would still have to maintain that at these levels in price, the manipulation in volumes are to gain attention, not dump out shares. What would a market maker have to gain by selling shares at $1.5 and dropping the price to $1. Yes it is 30% gain, but I think in the big picture, here, a distribution of millions of shares at much higher prices would be preferable. There is also the issue of convertible preffered shares here if I understand correctly.

Many times large volumes with little move in price are simply shares being shuffled to gain interest. To raise interest and attract people in for a subsequent dump at much higher prices.

I think what you are seeing here is no different than anything that happens in thousands of issues every day...prices and volumes are constantly being manipulated. The fact remains that market makers provide the liquidity and maintain "orderly" markets...thats their job... And they bank on the fact that the small investor will get "stopped" out or sell out of fear that they will lose all their money because they are either unable or unwilling to wait out the inevitable distribution at higher prices.

Here is a post that should shed a little light...
