Motorola Deal...

Does anyone know if AML has any contracts w/ Motorola? See below.

MOTOROLA INC. (MOT) 57 3/8 CLOSED. Semiconductor and communication equipment concern could receive a
boost today as the WSJ reports that the company in on the verge of winning a potentially significant digital cellular
telephone contract from a group of Japanese cellular telephone providers. While the full amount of the deal has not
been made public, people abreast of the situation see the multi-year contract being worth possibly several billion dollars.
According to the Journal, the company has scheduled a news conference for tomorrow to announce this deal. The
Japanese companies are said to need the increased capacity of the digital networks as they are adding over one million
customers a month and are very interested in building capacity to accommodate this rapid growth. The code-division multiple
access, or CDMA technology could be deployed quickly if the Japanese operators choose to build their system over
existing Motorola infrastructure. If so, the switches are expected to be manufactured by DSC Communications
(DIGI 21 1/4) which is the usual partner for switching technology for Motorola. Hence, both companies could see a boost
to their stock price today, although market enthusiasm is likely to be tempered until the Federal Reserve acts and announces
its decision from today's FOMC meeting on interest rates.
