Buffett doesn't just buy large cap stocks. Sometimes he will buy an entire small firm, See's Candy for example. Berkshire-Hathaway has a lot more leeway than a mutual fund. He never has to concern himself with redemptions, which is one worry that keeps mutual fund managers in liquid large caps.
