I'm a current QWST holder looking at USW for a merger play... was wondering why stock is still under 60 and more specifically, why the options contracts (Aug 60's) could still be had for 3/4 and the Jan 2000 for 4 7/8. When is the deal supposed to close? I could see USW sliding yesterday (everything else did), but USW is down today and it's pretty much an up day on the market...

Only thing I can figure is that someone somewhere doesn't think this merger is going to go through, or that QWST stock is going to fall below the $22 level (currently it's at $33 and was at $52 a short while ago) which would call the merger off. Is the Union going to strike or something? Are larger, more conservative shareholders worried that the dividend is going away so they're bailing?

Haven't followed USW at all, just looking to make a merger play is all...
