Greetings Mark, thank you for your response. To answer your question I would say emphatically Yes. To answer this in MY own words I will now attempt to do. Let me define what I believe a Christian is; I believe they are people who have been enlightened to see thier " true " condition of themselves, and have seen thier need of a Saviour, repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, thus receiving " eternal life ". I speak from personal experience Mark, once being a drunk and a person who forsook his wife and children to seek the pleasures of this world...............and not ever finding any satisfaction, but always wanting more. I realize that there are many people who have never wandered in the " pigpen " of life that I chose to pursue, however , we all need to come to the realization that God has placed one standard for all mankind, that being the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone. No amount of " good works " from any person can ever come minutely close to this standard ,God has established. I feel people tend to look at eachother to regulate to where thier own personal standard is set. I know I did before God opened my eyes by His wonderful grace. It is not what we do that makes us sinners, It is because of what we are by birth, that is we are born with a nature in rebellion to Gods established laws. May I suggest a great book for you to read Mark, which I'm very sure will answer many questions, it is " Mere Christianity by C.S.Lewis. I trust this brief response answers your question Mark. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ become evident in you life. Robert |
