GTR Group Inc. Announces Republishing Deal
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 21, 1999--GTR Group Inc.(TSE:GTR. - news), the parent company of Games Trader Inc., today announced it has signed a deal with Jaleco USA, the distribution arm of Jaleco Ltd. of Japan, for the exclusive North American distribution rights for several of Jaleco's republished video game titles.
Republished video games are lower-priced editions of earlier released games. They represent an estimated annual market of about US$700 million in the United States alone (1998 figures).
Jaleco USA and its parent company, Jaleco Ltd. of Japan, operate as developers and publishers of video game software for the most popular console and hand-held systems. Jaleco USA is a third party licensee with titles published for Sony, Sega, and Nintendo systems. Key titles include: Tetris Plus Greatest Hits Version, K-1 Revenge, and Juggernaut on PlayStation; Pocket Bowling for Game Boy Color; and Carrier for Dreamcast.
