Seriously though,
Of course the Hebrew text were political, it was the law code for a theocracy. Ancient Israel was to be ruled by men who represented God. The motivation for killing every man woman and child of the Canaanites was to execute Jehovah's political judgement. Remember these were not innocent people, they were worshipers of false Gods. Their worship included sacrificing children to their Gods (ie: burning them alive). It also included vast orgies of unclean sexual acts -- temple prostitutes, homosexuality, and beastiality. The question is, do you believe the law originated with God or man? You seem to want to believe it came from both, I don't understand how that could be. I believe that this conduct was disgusting in the eyes of my God and he judged them fit for destruction and used the nation of Israel as the tool for this judgement.
Jehovah did the same thing 400 years before Israel's conquest of palestine when he brought fire and brim stone down on the district of Sodom and Gomorrah.
The point is the israelites later adopted these same disgusting practices and were then judged fit for destruction in 607 BCE when babylon sacked Jeruselum. Through all this, the bible was not affected by the israelites false worship, just like it was not affected by the Catholic church's false worship (ie: the afore mentioned christmas and easter.) Why is that?
I mentioned that God demands exclusive devotion. This is a simple bible truth. It is not changed by the fact that most people on the earth have been confused by the demons. As a matter of fact, this supports the many prophecies Jesus and his apostles gave regarding the apostacy in the christian church.
As ONE example:
"The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man that sowed fine seed in his field. While men were sleeping his enemy came and oversowed weeds in among the wheat, and left. When the blade sprouted and produced fruit, then the weeds appeared also. So the slaves of the householder came up and said to him,'Master, did you not sow fine seed in your field? How, then, does it come to have weeds?' He said to them, 'An enemy, a man did this.' They said to him'Do you want us, then to go and collect them?' He said ''No, that by no chance, while collecting the weeds, you uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest ; and in the harvest season I will tell the reapers, first collect the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them up, then go to gathering the wheat into my store house.' . . . 'The sower of the fine seed is the son of man; the field is the world; as for the fine seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the wicked one, and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil. The harvest is a conclusion of a system of things, and the reapers are angels. Therefore just as weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be in the conclusion of the system of things." (Matthew 13:24-30; 37-40)
I put forth that it is these so called "aliens" or "fallen angels" who promote the confusion and thus lead mankind away from the truth found in God's word the bible. They are the servants of the Devil who we understand to be the sower of the weeds, and who himself is a fallen angel. |
