MPPP=another grossly overvalued IPO lottery, for these reasons...
why will mp3.com fail to live up to its astronomical valuation?
simple, mp3.com lacks mainstream musik b/c of copyright/royalty issues
the whole concept of MP3 popularity is the availability of FREE mainstream musik, despite the copyright infringement issues...
in other words, people like MP3's because they can get easily obtain every track of every album without having to pay a penny to record labels...
all you need is a hi speed conxn to the internet and minimal gray matter and you can get every track in existance... with the proliferation of hi speed access to the internet, musik piracy is prolific via mp3/vqf formats, cable modems, adsl, college ethernets, mirc mp3 distro channels... and its free... its fast... its easy to find what you really want....
as mppp will never be able to give away mainstream musik for free, it will not be able to compete with the main demand driver for mp3's
while not insignificant, mppp's revenues will be limited to advertising revenues, e-commerce transaction sharing agreements, and other areas of revenue... but the bulk of their inventory will be artists that no one has heard of before... and artists that a have limited following.... |
