As far as being innocent people - who commited the acts? the people or their leaders? wasn't it just a way to make sure that no leaders escaped to continue what the Isrealites considered barbaric? Why was it not carried out? Because the Isrealites SINNED in failling to kill them or because possibly the Isrealites had the intelligence to realize than not every person they met was indeed a sinner. This is why Jesus preached to Jews and Non-Jews alike. The Message was for ALL people, sinners and non-sinners alike.
Now, you can mix OT and NT together into a nice shake and get it to say anything you like as far as your current religion needs and that is fine with me. I just wanted you to admit what you have now admitted: that the Bible was a politically based text.
..now as far as Tools go, as you have attested, the Isrealites were not the only tool used by God. He used nonbelievers to kill Isrealites/the chosen people smacked back in line when for instance they were made slaves in Egypt. So if Jehovah can use whomever he pleases whenever He pleases without their apparent knowledge who is to say who the Chosen people of God are? You state that there is False worship being practiced by the Catholic (and other) religions, yet this is because it fits your OT message when the reasons for them are due to NT teachings - Be a fisherman of men... not just white men, or black men, or sinless men, but ALL men.
The question then becomes who is wheat and who is weed, and can a weed become wheat through faith. It seems like you do not believe that weeds can be turned into wheat, because they do not see that they are weeds. I personnally believe God can do anything, including turning weeds to wheat (water to wine close enough for me). The God of the NT is still the same, but His Word made flesh sends a different message entirely.
Your biggest problem with UFO's then is whether they are weeds or wheat from another planet... or worse WEEDS FROM ANOTHER PLANET... lol... lil' green men. Anyway, I would say to you this: Be watchful and do not turn away any wisdom which leads you closer to God, regardless of where it comes from.
I have read the many texts about staying clean from sinners and so on. However, the message given by Jesus is one of intergration, not segrigration. AND THAT IS A BIBLICAL TRUTH.
