Alok, USWB is up less than 1 point today. I expected it would go
higher than this. According to Yahoo Board, SSB has a neutral
rating on the stock which might undermine the upside momentum
for today. Seems to me the street is still digesting the news
and doesn't have a real conviction to it yet. SSB has the concern
that bigger competitor would soon emerge in this industry and
take away the leadership from USWB. But last night conference
call Robert Shaw mentioned a major partnership would soon be
announced. Depends on whom USWB partners with, the street might
change the perception rather quickly on this company. Today,
Sun_Netscape also announces plan to push the software
and service revenue to $1B for the alliance. It would be ideal
if USWB has a partnership with SUNW or IBM. That would give this
company a total different image. Even though I firmly hold on
to my SUNW and believe Sun_Netscape is probably even better
position than USWB, this market should have more than several
big players. And as a pure play internet service firm. USWB
remains to be the leader.
