Thanks for clarifying a number of items.

I have broken my own rules and asked for engineering help regarding SNMP. As you pointed out, SNMP can be used to monitor and control units. The issue is what parameter can be set and what not; it is all defined in the private enterprise MIB that is set for any specific device.

For the Hopper Plus, we have defined a private MIB that will allow us to change channels, ranks, status (Remote, Basestation or Repeater), ..... etc. All this is done through defining OIDs in the private MIB for each parameter to be controlled, and then use that OID to control and configure the unit through an SNMP manager.

The recent release of the Hopper Plus uses SNMP to control the units. The configuration button you are referring to is there for historic reasons. Some customers are used to it and prefer it to SNMP.

Our units do not support Telnet. We are close with the RS232 management port but we do not have an rlogin window.

Thanks again for your clarifying remarks.
