Artifex,

Now I'm understanding the problem much more clearly. Remote configuration via the web sounds like a highly useful attribute, and if not that then at least a TELNET like interface through a serial port.

Hatim in Message 10583435 did say that "the products" are configurable through an "RS232 interface", which is in fact a serial interface. IF that interface is capable of something like a TELNET text session, then that means that Nathanc's original statement - that the devices are required to brought down - is no longer true (I think). Hatim also mentioned in the same message, SNMP, which Nathanc caught as "walking a thin line"... leading to a wild but educational goose chase, distracting me from the RS232 part of Hatim's answer, which is now the point of my focus.

Question to Hatim, can a TELNET like configuation session be conducted on Wi-LAN's products via the RS232 port, while they are in operation? Any plans for incorporating HTTP servers into the newer products?

John
