Well, I have to say that it sounds a bit unusual. Two possibilities come to mind:

1) There was a coincidence of orders in which a very slightly earlier 6 3/4 took out that price. Did the bid fall below 6 3/4 almost immediately?

2) Someone is playing some strange games

At any rate, you can probably assume that your broker is telling you the truth in this instance (unless this is a less than reputable firm and is making a market in the stock). After all, he or she exists to make those commissions. Interesting.

Unless the bottom drops out in the morning, you can't lose more than an additional $50 or so (under the $6 3/4) on the position. Maybe you could look on it as a valuable, very, very inexpensive lesson???
