I very much doubt that it will sit in a money market fund. In an exploding market, there are lots of investment opportunities. For example, how about expanding rapidly mobile phone production and becoming the Nokia of CDMA? If Q management invests this money in the business wisely it can be very good for current (long term) stockholders.

An additional reason for increasing the size of the offer is to satisfy demand by institutional investors. Relatively speaking, Q is underowned by them. What better way to become friends with the fund managers? After all Q's stock price is very much dependent on their future actions.
