You have to take these kind of stories with a grain of salt. Every college basketball player has been told from the time they were in elementary school to "be like Mike" - in other words, be an NBA superstar. Their high school coaches have told them that they are good enough to do so, their parents have told them, the fans have told them, and they believe it. And when given a realistic view of their chances by their coach, naturally, they and their parents get pissed off. It's like those stupid investors who are constantly suing companies when the stock goes down. Avery and Brand are two different players, and Coach K evaluated them as such, and gave them two different prognoses on their chances.
