You will be nitpicked to death over this. It is the death of a thousand cuts- I realize you are trying to be rational and I must say i have very much enjoyed your posts- you are trying to tread the kind of middle road I look for. But you will find the folks who argue with you over this are intemperate (by this I mean lacking in moderation, and not the other definition- should anyone decide to rupture themselves and haul out the old OED) and, further, you are trying to reason with folks who are basically unreasonable.

That said I will say again I have very much enjoyed your efforts.
