A couple of thoughts on the 6M new shares:

Some companies buy back shares and a lot of investors like it as it seems to support the stock price, at least in the short term...I read a commentary be someone a little more astute who said he was bothered by companies that did stock buybacks. "Don't they have anything better to do with their cash?" he asked. High growth company's usually do. Now we're in the opposite situation where Q (a high growth company if there ever was one) sees the oppty to raise cash after a phenomenal run-up in the stock price in the context of the S&P entry...where it's reasonable to believe that any adverse effect on stock price will be limited and short term. I think it's fine.

BTW, another way to earn money a little bit at a time that MSFT has used for years is to sell puts. It might be a good idea for Q to start trying that, too.
