PLYMOUTH, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Onvoy (formerly MEANS) has issued a status
update on a network service interruption that began earlier this afternoon and is affecting telephone and Internet services to
portions of central Minnesota. According to Onvoy network technicians, a fiber cable was cut this afternoon at approximately
2:00 p.m. Repair crews from Plymouth-based Onvoy and Lakedale Telephone Company in Annandale were immediately
dispatched and the actual location of the cut was identified shortly after 4 p.m.

It is unknown how many customers are affected by this outage. Crews expect service to be restored by early evening.

Privately-held Onvoy is the Upper Midwest's leading provider of integrated voice, data and Internet services, comprised of
former companies MEANS Telcom, MEANS Communications and MRNet. Onvoy is Minnesota's largest Internet Service
Provider and operates one of the largest networks in Minnesota-a 100% fiber optic network spanning more than 2,000 miles
across the state with multiple connections to Internet backbones. Onvoy and its local telephone company partners support the
delivery of data, Internet and video services to more than 470 school districts and public libraries across Minnesota. In the fall
of 1999, Onvoy will launch a full suite of integrated local telephone services in the Twin Cities metro area.
