jbe -- Any print journalist worth their byline is a master of obfuscation. Your last post is a wonderful nonhypothetical example of "what-you-thought-I-said" vs. "what-I-really-said."

I hate to keep "challenging" you, but I would appreciate a reference to evidence of WSJ "avowing" or "professing" to be a conservative newspaper. We seem to agree that the opinion pages have a conservative slant and that the news pages do not.

In my opinion, the list of print and broadcast media that meet the WSJ standard of separating fact and opinion is short.

As for getting conservative viewpoints across via the WSJ opinion pages, the numbers aren't there. You know that. Much as I love print, the proletariat marches to the drum of network news.

Rightly or wrongly, our citizens recently accepted their country waging an undeclared war against another country based mainly on television images of refugees -- not coming down on either side of the "war" issue, but I would like other evidence before acting as we did.

Power of the press is scary. Very scary when hard facts are "arranged" to fit point of view of reporter, producer, editor, publisher. Happens way too much of the time.

For Shampoo Person -- I think your friend is a complete idiot. That said, after checking your profile, I promise never to say it again :-)
