He may have been right in the past, and he may be right now. My own view is that Bezos asks investors to take too much on faith - not only in his claims about market share (as in this case) but in his promises for future profitability. His words about market share would carry a lot more weight with me personally if he provided data to back them up. As an investor, I want data when evaluating market share - I don't want beliefs. When Bezos states he "believes" they are number 1 without providing data, it makes it appear as though he is grasping at straws in trying to justify the company's continued losses.
