M.T.C.: Perhaps I missed your point. According to JR's post I saw this,"I put it at 6 3/4 to get rid of the stock because the ask was 6 13/16. I had decided to give up on this one. I was quite surprised that it didn't fill. Shouldn't my order have been the first at 6 3/4 and lower the ask from 6 13/16? " "The ask was 6 13/16" not the bid. In your example you would have been entitled to an execution but here you needed to get the bid up to 6 3/4 to fight with your broker and win. I could have missed something else though.
