Nokia sees GPRS terminals available in H2 2000
HELSINKI, July 22 (Reuters) - The world's biggest mobile phone maker Nokia said on Thursday that GPRS wireless terminals would be available in the second half of next year, when commercial services are launched.

The GPRS (General Packet Radio System) standard's wireless communications of up to 150 kilobits per second, compared with current GSM systems' 9.6 kilobits, will enable wireless Internet services.

''First commercial services will be launched in leading markets in the second half of the year 2000, at which time GPRS terminals will also be available,'' Nokia's Chief Financial Officer Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo told a conference call.
