CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1997--Golden Hill(CANADIAN DEALING NETWORK:GHMC.) Mill City (VSE:MIY.) GOLDEN HILL MINING CORP. (CDN:GHMC.) and MILL CITY GOLD MINING CORP. (VSE:MIY.) announce the discovery by MacDonald Mines Exploration Ltd. (ASE:MMP.A.) of a completely new gold and silver zone in the Golden Hill area.
Since the discovery of the Golden Hill epithermal, high sulphidation gold-copper deposit in 1995, the search radius has been expanded in the quest for additional economic mineralization. Recent surface prospecting has resulted in a new discovery, named "Zona Campo Santos", centered approximately 1.1 kilometres east-northeast of the peak of Big Golden Hill, and located within the Golden Hill fault system. The Golden Hill deposits appear to be genetically related to the Golden Hill fault which is a regional structure.
Analytical results from oxidized surface rock have returned values as high as 1.4 grams/tonne gold and greater than 100 grams/tonne silver. Of particular significance are high concentrations of antimony, arsenic, bismuth, and lead. Based on previous experience in the Golden Hill area, such high concentrations of these trace elements only occur in close proximity to economic mineralization. Based on the distribution of surface rock containing gold values, Zona Campo Santos appears to have a strike length of at least 500 metres. One bulldozer trench has cut and exposed a 20 metre wide, vertically dipping, quartz and gossan veined zone.
Additional trenches are now being cut and a 50 metre spaced grid is presently being put in place on which soil geochemistry and ground geophysical surveys will be completed. Site geologists are enthusiastic about the new discovery, however, management cautions that further work is required in order to fully evaluate its potential.
Operator MacDonald Mines is conducting the ongoing exploration program at the Golden Hill epithermal gold discovery, in east- central Cuba, on behalf of partners GeoMinera S.A., a Cuban state agency, and Golden Hill Mining Corp. Mill City currently owns approximately 42 percent of the Shares of Golden Hill.
