Well, for one thing, you assume that any tax relief will immediately convert to spending by consumers. Doesn't it ever occur to anyone that people might actually save and invest any tax cut?

The average person is $5k in consumer debt. I think most people would rather pay off their own debt before tackling Uncle Sam's.
