*OT* Lee, IMO, the Republican party is loosing (any reputation it had) as the responsible fiscal party....A tax cut is not needed at this time (1) our gvt. has been living off a credit card for 30 yrs...and now that we are starting to make a dent in the deficit, we are now jepoardizing future progress (2) Greenspan has stated on several occasions that we should use all surpluses towards debt relief..

Right, that's all we need, CONSUMERS SPENDING EVEN MORE! Geez....
They (with a tax cut) will push Greenspan to raise rates...now that real helpful, $300 dollars back from the gvt. while everyone's portfolio goes down $ (x)(x)x,xxx dollars, business pays more interest debt, etc...

IMO, it should be a crime to mix SSI funds (inflows) with other moneys....to call the current situation "a surplus" is a joke, and criminal..it is unfunded liability, and nothing more.....

Good pt. about China, however, even given its increasing trade partner significance, it is still pales in comparison to the influence that our internal economy (ex-trade) has on interest rates, etc....IMO, internet/technology effect x times more significant..
